Godot Engine Error Codes
The global Error enum returned by Godot Engine's core and scripting APIs (GDScript, C#, GDExtension). Methods like FileAccess.open() or HTTPRequest.request() return one of these values, and get_error_string() converts a code to its message.

- ERR_ALREADY_EXISTS Already Exists The object, file, or entry being created already exists.
- ERR_ALREADY_IN_USE Already in Use The resource is already in use and cannot be acquired again in the way requested.
- ERR_BUG Internal Bug An internal engine bug was detected; this should be reported to the Godot project.
- ERR_BUSY Busy The resource is busy performing another operation and cannot handle the request right now.
- ERR_CANT_ACQUIRE_RESOURCE Can't Acquire Resource A required low-level resource, such as a socket or handle, could not be acquired from the OS.
- ERR_CANT_CONNECT Can't Connect A connection attempt (e.g. TCP, HTTPRequest) failed to establish.
- ERR_CANT_CREATE Can't Create The requested object, directory, or resource could not be created.
- ERR_CANT_FORK Can't Fork A new process could not be spawned (fork/exec failed).
- ERR_CANT_OPEN Can't Open A resource, device, or handle (not necessarily a file) could not be opened.
- ERR_CANT_RESOLVE Can't Resolve The hostname could not be resolved to an IP address via DNS.
- ERR_COMPILATION_FAILED Compilation Failed Compilation of a script or shader failed.
- ERR_CONNECTION_ERROR Connection Error An established connection encountered an error, e.g. it was unexpectedly closed.
- ERR_CYCLIC_LINK Cyclic Link A cyclic dependency or inheritance link was detected, e.g. a script extending itself indirectly.
- ERR_DATABASE_CANT_READ Database Can't Read The database could not be read from, e.g. while loading font or resource caches.
- ERR_DATABASE_CANT_WRITE Database Can't Write The database could not be written to.
- ERR_DOES_NOT_EXIST Does Not Exist The object, file, or entry being referenced does not exist.
- ERR_DUPLICATE_SYMBOL Duplicate Symbol A symbol (variable, function, class, etc.) was declared more than once in the same scope.
- ERR_FILE_ALREADY_IN_USE File Already in Use The file is already open or locked by another part of the engine or another process.
- ERR_FILE_BAD_DRIVE File: Bad Drive The drive or filesystem referenced by the path is invalid or inaccessible.
- ERR_FILE_BAD_PATH File: Bad Path The given file path is malformed or otherwise invalid.
- ERR_FILE_CANT_OPEN File Can't Open The file exists but could not be opened, e.g. due to an OS-level I/O error.
- ERR_FILE_CANT_READ File Can't Read The file could not be read from, e.g. due to corruption or an I/O error.
- ERR_FILE_CANT_WRITE File Can't Write The file could not be written to, e.g. because it is read-only or the disk is full.
- ERR_FILE_CORRUPT File Corrupt The file's contents are corrupt or do not match the expected format, and could not be parsed.
- ERR_FILE_EOF Unexpected File EOF The end of the file was reached unexpectedly while reading.
- ERR_FILE_MISSING_DEPENDENCIES File Missing Dependencies The file references other resources (dependencies) that could not be found or loaded.
- ERR_FILE_NO_PERMISSION File: No Permission The current user or process does not have permission to access the file.
- ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND File Not Found The specified file could not be found on disk or within the project's resource filesystem.
- ERR_FILE_UNRECOGNIZED File Unrecognized The file's format or extension is not recognized by the loader that was used.
- ERR_HELP Help Requested Indicates that help text was requested, e.g. via a `--help` command line argument.
- ERR_INVALID_DATA Invalid Data The provided data is invalid or fails validation for the operation being performed.
- ERR_INVALID_DECLARATION Invalid Declaration A declaration in a script or shader is invalid or malformed.
- ERR_INVALID_PARAMETER Invalid Parameter One of the parameters passed to the function is invalid for that call.
- ERR_LINK_FAILED Link Failed Linking of a compiled shader or script failed.
- ERR_LOCKED Locked The resource is currently locked, preventing the operation from proceeding.
- ERR_METHOD_NOT_FOUND Method Not Found The requested method does not exist on the target object.
- ERR_OUT_OF_MEMORY Out of Memory The engine ran out of memory while attempting to allocate resources for the operation.
- ERR_PARAMETER_RANGE_ERROR Parameter Out of Range A parameter passed to the function is outside of its accepted range.
- ERR_PARSE_ERROR Parse Error The parser encountered invalid syntax and could not parse the source.
- ERR_PRINTER_ON_FIRE Printer on Fire A joke error code kept for historical reasons; not used by engine code in practice.
- ERR_QUERY_FAILED Query Failed A query, such as a database or introspection query, failed to execute.
- ERR_SCRIPT_FAILED Script Failed A script failed to execute correctly, e.g. it raised a runtime error.
- ERR_SKIP Skip Signals that the current step should be skipped; not necessarily a failure.
- ERR_TIMEOUT Timeout The operation did not complete within the allotted time and timed out.
- ERR_UNAUTHORIZED Unauthorized The caller lacks the necessary permissions to perform the requested operation.
- ERR_UNAVAILABLE Unavailable The requested functionality or resource is unavailable, e.g. calling a method backed by a disabled or unsupported feature.
- ERR_UNCONFIGURED Unconfigured The object or system has not been configured before use, so the operation cannot proceed.
- FAILED Failed A generic, unspecified failure occurred. Used when no more specific error code applies.
